Why do sulfur smell

Even if there is another magnesium or aluminium anode rod in the tank, the Corro-Protec will work perfectly. We just installed a new gas water heater. Our hot water smells rotten. It never smelled until we replaced it. Will this work in a water system with sulfate oxidizing bacteria?

I have changed anode types, had a aeration tank put in, carbon filter, replaced the hot water heater all, temporary fixes. I have some Sulfur Smell in hot water and tried to install an aluminium rod but couple days after that smell went back.

Could you assist. If you have Sulfur smell after installing a aluminium rod, it means that you have sulphate-reducing bacteria inside your hot water tank. The best way to stop the sulfur smell would be to install a Corro-Protec anode.

Just moved into a new house with well water. After about a month, we are getting a sulfur smell with hot water. We have 2 water heaters. Do we need one of your anode rods in both or just one? You need one Corro-Protec in each tank. Does this apply to a case where tank 1 has the powered anode and tank 2 is downstream from tank 1?

Hello Jerome, it will work for some cases but we suggest installing a powered anode rod in each tank. Are you talking about the cost of operating a Corro-Protec powered anode rod?

We have two summer houses next to each other. We just got a new electric water heater in one. It used to smell like sulfur with the year-old gas water heater and we thought a new one would fix the problem. The sulfur smell is back right away but it is not at the house next-door with the same water source. Any Ideas what the difference would be? This smell is coming from a reaction in the tank, we suggest installing a Corro-Protec anode it will take care of it.

I tried a breaker bar and impact wrench. Had a plumber look at it, but he just tried the same things I did. Any suggestions? Sam, if you want to install a Corro-Protec anode you can order the model for Bradford White. We have a Rheem water heater with the same issue. Would the Bradford white work on a Rheem water heater without removing the original anode? I had 4 State electric water heaters for installed to replace the original heaters about 3 years ago.

There are two 55 gallon heaters for each side of house , located in attic. I have the sulphur smell on only one side. When removing the offending anodes can I bend them or should they be cut for removal? Can the electrical connection you supply be plugged into an extension cord plugged into a nearby light socket? So, we know the sulfur smell is due to our well.

Both hot and cold water smell. However, the smell is barley detectable in the cold water so not an issue for us. It is the hot water that was causing us grief.

The smell was unbearable. Called our plumber and he said to purchase the Corro-Protec. We did and the smell in the hot water has been gone for about a week. My question is since it is coming from our well and not just the water heater will this for sure eliminate the smell in the hot water?

We just want the smell out of the hot water for good. Sorry for the long question. I would love some info on this. I just had new piping put in for the incoming lines to our house and these plumbers destroyed everything, leaving me worse off than I was.. My well water has been checked and is really good thankfully.

This smell is horrible and I agree.. Rebecca, this is an excellent question. If you have some sulfur smell in the cold and hot water, the Corro-Protec will stop the reaction that makes the smell worst in hot water, but you will have the smell from the cold. Both cold and hot water will have the same smell. So a few months ago our hot water started giving the dreaded rotten egg smell, and had been operating 20 years without an anode.

So we just replaced it with a new Rheem. No smell for a month, then smell came back. Removed anode, cleaned tank, and all good for another month. Now smell is coming back. Since this just started happening, with and without an anode, will this corro-protec help? Yes, Corro-Protec will kill the bacteria that creates the smell. Contents show. No more smell in our hot water few hours after the installation. Corro-Protec on January 20, at pm.
